One advantage of a university-based practice is access to technically advanced facilities and equipment, offering the latest innovations in ovulation induction, embryo transfer and highly sophisticated technology in the IVF lab. We are pleased to offer this unique benefit to other physicians who are also committed to the advancement of reproductive medicine. The physicians listed below are among those who use the Fertility Center services for their patients. Patients of these physicians make appointments through their physician's offices.

Fairfield County

Karol J. Chacho, III, MD*, is a board certified specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. He is the Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Bridgeport Hospital and has a private practice in Bridgeport. He offers minimally invasive procedures through microsurgery and operative laser laparoscopy. Dr. Chacho trained at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, which was the program that produced the first IVF pregnancy and the first IVF baby in Illinois. Subsequently, he was the first specialist in his field to practice in southern Fairfield County.

Anthony Santomauro, MD*, is a board certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, currently serving as Chief, Ambulatory Gynecologic Surgery and Director of Endoscopic Gynecologic Surgery at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale-New Haven Health System. Dr. Santomauro's private practice is The Fertility Institute in Bridgeport. He is certified to perform and teach advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. His special interests include the medical and minimally invasive endoscopic surgical treatment of infertility, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, and abnormal uterine bleeding. He has been listed in Best Doctors in America and Top Doctors in the New York Metropolitan Area.
